Terms and Conditions of Use

Welcome to Juan Contigo, a mobile application operated by HackLatino LLC ("the Company", "we", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the Juan Contigo application ("the App"), you agree to these Terms and Conditions of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

Juan Contigo is a community platform that offers the following features:

• Interactive map with real-time community reports (checkpoints, detentions, alerts, etc.)
• SOS button to send emergency messages with location to trusted contacts
• Directory of immigration lawyers by state and specialty
• Quick-read guides on legal rights
• News and informational content for the Latino community
• AMBER Alerts for missing persons
• Navigation with safe routes that avoid areas with active reports
• Community informational videos

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet these age requirements.

3. Account Registration

To access certain features, you will need to create an account using your email address, Google account, or Apple ID. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

4. User-Generated Content

Users may post reports, comments, images, and other content on the App ("User Content"). By doing so, you grant HackLatino LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute such content within the platform.

4.1 Zero Tolerance Policy

Juan Contigo maintains a zero tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users. It is strictly prohibited to post content that:

• Is offensive, violent, or incites violence
• Promotes discrimination of any kind
• Is pornographic, racist, sexist, homophobic, or xenophobic
• Constitutes harassment, bullying, or threats against any person
• Is intentionally false or misleading
• Is spam or unsolicited promotional content
• Violates the intellectual property rights of third parties
• Contains personal information of third parties without their consent

4.2 Content Moderation and Filtering

All User Content is subject to automated profanity filtering before publication. Content that contains inappropriate language will be automatically filtered or rejected.

4.3 Reporting Objectionable Content

Users can report objectionable content directly within the App by using the "Report" button available on map reports, comments, reviews, and videos. When reporting content, users may select a reason (spam, offensive, harassment, misinformation, or other) and provide an optional description. All reports are reviewed by our moderation team.

4.4 Blocking Abusive Users

Users have the ability to block other users directly from the App. When a user is blocked, their content will be immediately hidden from the blocking user's view. Blocked users can be managed and unblocked from the App's Settings screen.

4.5 Enforcement

Our moderation team reviews all reported content and acts within 24 hours. Enforcement actions include:

• Removal of content that violates these Terms
• Warning the offending user
• Temporary or permanent suspension of the offending user's account
• Permanent deletion of the offending user's account in cases of severe or repeated violations

5. Community Scoreboard and Public Rankings

The App includes a community scoreboard that publicly displays user rankings based on participation (such as posting reports, comments, and map verifications). By using the App and participating in these activities, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Your display name, profile picture, and accumulated points may be visible to all App users on the public scoreboard
• Your ranking position is calculated automatically based on your community contributions
• HackLatino LLC reserves the right to adjust scoring criteria and rankings at any time
• You may contact us at support@hacklatino.com if you wish to opt out of the public scoreboard

6. Subscriptions and Payments

The App offers a free plan and Premium subscription plans (monthly and annual). Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Stripe depending on the platform.

• Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each period
• You may cancel your subscription at any time from the App settings or your app store settings
• No refunds are offered for partial periods already paid
• Prices may change with at least 30 days prior notice

7. Location Usage

The App requests access to your location for features such as the report map, the SOS button, nearby report notifications, and navigation. Location access is voluntary, but some features will not be available without it. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more details on how your location information is used and protected.

8. Disclaimer

• Map reports are generated by the community and are not independently verified by HackLatino LLC. The accuracy and truthfulness of these reports is not guaranteed.
• The lawyer directory is for informational purposes. HackLatino LLC does not endorse or guarantee the services of any listed lawyer.
• Legal guides are for informational purposes and do not constitute professional legal advice.
• The navigation and safe routes feature is an assistance tool. HackLatino LLC does not guarantee that routes are completely safe.
• The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HackLatino LLC shall not be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use or inability to use the App, including but not limited to reliance on community reports, legal information, or navigation routes provided.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, design, source code, trademarks, and materials of the App are the property of HackLatino LLC or are used under license. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or modification of any part of the App is prohibited.

11. Termination

HackLatino LLC reserves the right to suspend or delete your account at any time if it is determined that you have violated these Terms or if your use of the App poses a risk to other users or the platform.

12. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will take effect upon being published in the App. Continued use of the App after the publication of changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which HackLatino LLC is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles.
