HackLatino LLC ("the Company", "we", "our") operates the mobile application Juan Contigo ("the App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information provided directly

• Registration data: name, email address, profile picture (if using Google or Apple sign-in)
• Community reports: descriptions, categories, images, comments, and links you post on the map
• Emergency contacts: phone numbers you set up for the SOS feature
• AMBER Alerts: missing person information you voluntarily publish
• Subscription data: payment information processed by Apple, Google, or Stripe (we do not store card numbers)
• Moderation data: content reports you submit (including reason and description), and your list of blocked users

1.2 Information collected automatically

• Location data: GPS location when using the map, SOS, navigation, or nearby report notifications (only with your permission)
• Device data: model, operating system, unique identifier, device language
• Usage data: screens visited, features used, time of use, interactions with reports
• Analytics data: usage events through Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and improve the App's features
• Display relevant reports and alerts in your geographic area
• Send notifications about reports near your location
• Process and manage Premium subscriptions
• Send SOS messages with your location to your emergency contacts
• Personalize your experience and displayed content
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the App
• Display relevant ads (free plan)
• Moderate user-generated content and enforce our Terms of Use, including reviewing content reports and taking action within 24 hours
• Prevent fraud and protect platform security
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers: Firebase (authentication and analytics), Mixpanel (analytics), Google Maps (maps), Stripe (payments), Google AdMob (advertising on free plan)
• Other users: reports, comments, and images you post will be visible to other App users. Additionally, your display name, profile picture, and accumulated points may be displayed on the App's public community scoreboard
• Your emergency contacts: when you activate the SOS feature, your location and message will be shared with the contacts you have configured
• Legal authorities: when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property

4. Advertising

The free version of the App displays ads through Google AdMob. These ads may use device identifiers and general usage data to personalize advertising content. Premium users do not see ads.

5. Storage and Security

• Your data is stored on secure Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in the United States
• We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest to protect your information
• Authentication is managed through Firebase Authentication with secure tokens
• We do not store passwords in plain text or credit card numbers
• Despite our measures, no electronic transmission or storage system is 100% secure

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is necessary to comply with legal obligations.

7. Your Rights

Under applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Revoke location permissions at any time from your device settings
• Opt out of receiving notifications
• Request data portability

To exercise these rights, you may use the "Delete Account" option in the App settings or contact us directly.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected information from a minor without proper parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information.

9. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Firebase (Google) - Authentication, analytics, push notifications
• Mixpanel - Usage analytics
• Google Maps - Maps and geolocation services
• Google AdMob - Advertising (free plan)
• Stripe - Payment processing
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store - In-app purchases

10. International Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed on servers located in the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country of residence.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
